Treadmill helps customer kiss baby weight goodbye

Inspired to lose 28 kg of post baby weight, Kristy-Anne McQuillan chose to buy a treadmill from Workout World at Clarkson, WA. Eight months later, Kristy-Anne is an exceptionally happy mum who is now 22kg lighter and starts every day with greater energy levels than ever before!

Image Q. Why did you decide to buy an Avanti AT480 treadmill from Workout World?
When I gave birth to my first baby, everyone told me I would lose the baby weight through breastfeeding. This wasn't true for me! I needed a convenient exercise solution to help me. Being a single mum who spends a lot of time at home, buying a treadmill worked perfectly for me.

I shopped around. What was critical for me was the interest free period, since I'm not currently working. Loren from Workout World Clarkson was brilliant. He explained many purchase options to me. I went away, came back… and the deal he gave me turned out to be perfect.

Aside from the Avanti AT480 treadmill being a great buy and the results being amazing, Workout World's customer service was phenomenal. After I bought the treadmill Workout World Clarkson rang several times to ensure I was comfortable with all the treadmill's features. This made a world of difference to me!

Q. When you bought your treadmill, what were your exercise and fitness goals?
To lose all 28kg of my baby weight. I told the Workout World team what my goals were and they qualified the type of exercise I wanted to do.

It's taken me about eight or nine months to lose 22kg. Shifting those last stubborn kilos is my current challenge!

Q. What do you like the most about owning your own treadmill?
The convenience factor. A treadmill workout fits in with my baby's routines. When my baby was very young I'd place her in a carrier and start walking. The motion of the treadmill put her to sleep and I got to do my exercise! Plus, carrying the baby in the carrier - which added a little bit of extra weight to my workout - helped me with my walking!

How it's helped my fitness levels. In the beginning I could walk for 10 minutes at a speed setting of 6. Now I can run for a minute on a setting of 12 and I drop it down to 6 or 7 and keep walking at that pace.

Q. Where is your treadmill set up?
I've converted my garage into a room with a TV, video and kid's toys - so I have no reason at all not to get on the treadmill! The more times I get going the better. Since working out on the treadmill I have so much more energy - it's phenomenal!

Q. How often do you use your treadmill?
I try to get on the treadmill for at least 10 minutes every day. I know my baby is going to have a 10 minute nap at least. When she goes down, I jump on the treadmill!

Q. What features do you generally use regularly on your treadmill?
I always use the incline and set the treadmill to different speeds. My treadmill has a great cushioning feature so that when I run, there is less impact on my joints - which is great because I have a bad knee. My physio was really impressed with that feature!

Q. What advice do you give friends and family about buying fitness equipment?
I've referred everyone to Workout World! I've told them to visit a Workout World store and tell the sales staff exactly what you want because they will demonstrate the products, find the time for you and listen to your fitness goals.

Q. What other pieces of home fitness equipment would you ultimately like to own and why? What other forms of exercise do you enjoy?
I'm happy for now, but once this last six kilos is gone I want to get into some strength and toning.

Q. Do you have any tips to share with people who are looking to lose weight at home?
1. Get moving - but don't be hard on yourself.
2. Find five minutes a few times each day. It makes a world of difference to your energy levels!
3. Reward yourself each time you achieve a weight loss goal. I get a massage each time I reach a goal. And keep setting new goals!
